STEVE BOULTON, CHIEF EXECUTIVE

Steve Boulton was appointed to the role of Chief Executive of Hastings in September 2007. Prior to this role, Steve held the position of Chief Executive of Babcock & Brown Infrastructure and its Fund Manager, with assets spread globally across three continents. Steve was Chairman/Director of each of the major fund investments in the broad portfolio which included electricity and gas transmission and distribution, seaports, power generation and rail networks.  Steve has also held Chief Executive roles with Powerco Limited, an electricity and gas distribution utility which he led through an IPO onto the NZX and with Allgas, a natural gas and LPG distribution and retailing entity listed on the ASX. In these CEO roles Steve grew the funds/assets under management, business ownership and operations by leading a range of mergers and acquisition transactions in the infrastructure and utility sectors with exposure to both equity and debt capital markets.  Steve has held a range of executive and management positions including roles in ENERGEX and Shell Coal. He has management experience in listed, unlisted and public utilities through his 30 year career. Steve holds a Bachelor of Business and a Masters of Technology Management and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.

 

GEORGE BATSAKIS, HEAD of ALTERNATIVE DEBT

George is presently head of Hastings' high yield securities business globally, including being the Chief Operating Officer of the Hastings Yield Fund and the Hastings High Yield Fund. George is also a member of the Hastings Executive Committee and the Hastings Investment Committee. George has over 11 years of experience in global credit markets having originated, arranged and executed over $100 billion in debt financings (across highly structured to plain vanilla transactions) predominantly in the infrastructure and telecommunications industry sectors across a number of jurisdictions. George has been actively involved in the pioneering of the niche asset class of infrastructure debt financing. Prior to joining Hastings, George acted in lead origination and structuring roles within the infrastructure team of Barclays Capital in London, the Royal Bank of Scotland (Global Markets team) in London and GE Capital (Commercial Finance). George holds a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours) from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia. George is PS146 certified for Generic Knowledge Managed Investments.

 

Steve Bulloch, Head of Property

Steve has 18 years' experience in the property and finance industry, the last four with Westpac where Steve has been responsible for the Group's property activities.  He is a member of Hastings' executive management team as the Head of Property.  Steve's responsibilities include driving the strategic direction of Hastings Property business, development of new property funds management product and leading the Group's Asset Services business focusing on maximising value at the asset level. Steve has a broad range of skills and experience spanning funds management, joint venture property development, structured finance, research, advisory and the acquisition/ disposal of property and property companies. Prior to joining Westpac, Steve spent 8 years with Macquarie Bank focussed on the origination of principal property transactions, management of equity positions and the establishment of new funds management products. Steve has a Bachelor of Business (Land Economics) from the University of Western Sydney and is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA), having obtained a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance.

 

Anthony Cherubin, Head of Human Resources

Anthony joined as the Director, Human Resources at Hastings in April 2008 and is responsible for the Human Resources function for the combined Hastings group. Prior to this position, Anthony previously worked at Telstra in varied roles including Director HR Telstra Operations, Group Manager Rewards & Equity and Group Manager Superannuation. Anthony had worked with Executives at Telstra to implement their people strategies including remuneration frameworks, performance management and leadership development. Anthony holds a Bachelor of Business from Monash University and a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning through Deakin University.

 

RICHARD HOSKINS, Head of Unlisted Infrastructure

Richard joined Hastings in May 2006 and is a member of Hastings' executive management team with the roles of Head of Unlisted Infrastructure and Joint Chief Operating Officer of Utilities Trust of Australia. He is a director of Perth Airport. Richard has been involved in a number of key transactions for Hastings, including South East Water, acquisition of BAA's Australian airports stakes and Envirogen.

Prior to joining Hastings, Richard was a partner of Mallesons Stephen Jaques specialising in project and infrastructure finance. Richard acted for Hastings and its investments for around six years prior to joining Hastings, including Perth Airport, Port of Portland, Global Renewables, Queensland Airports and Northern Territory Airports. His other clients included Macquarie Bank, ABN AMRO and Bilfinger Berger with notable transactions, including ConnectEast's successful bid for the Mitcham-Frankston Tollway and Bilfinger Berger's successful bid for the Royal Women's Hospital PPP.  Richard holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Melbourne.

 

Patrick Lardner, head of Capital Markets

Pat joined Hastings in November 2008 and has responsibility for our investor service and relationship functions, attracting capital and working with investors and our experienced global investment team to develop relevant and innovative solutions.  In addition, Pat is a member of both the Hastings Executive Team and our Investment Committee. Prior to joining Hastings, Pat worked for Bank of Ireland Asset Management Limited (BIAM) since 1999 where he held a number of senior roles both here in Australia and in Ireland, including membership of the BIAM Board since 2001.  Pat's earlier experience included roles with Ulster Bank Investment Managers and Lloyds Bank PLC's Private Banking Division.  Pat is a past Council member and Investment Committee Chairperson of the Irish Association of Pension Funds and a past Director of the Irish Association of Investment Managers. Pat attained a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Honours) from the National University of Ireland, University College Dublin (UCD) and a Master of Business Studies Degree (Honours) in Banking & Finance from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business at UCD.

 

Jeff Pollock, Head of listed INFRASTRUCTURE

Jeff joined Hastings in April 2008. Jeff is part of Hastings' executive management team and holds the dual role of Head of Listed Infrastructure and Chief Executive Officer of Australian Infrastructure Fund. Prior to joining Hastings Jeff was part of the senior   management team at Prime Infrastructure/Babcock & Brown Infrastructure (BBI), where he was a key member of the leadership team,  first as Prime Infrastructure/BBI's Chief Financial Officer and then as Chief Operating Officer for BBI Transport Infrastructure. Jeff's main areas of focus at BBI were the management and operations of infrastructure and utilities in the transport and energy sectors. Jeff also has broad experience in asset management with his role as a director on a range of BBI subsidiary boards.  Jeff holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Glasgow, and has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland since 1988.

 

Steve Rankine, Head of Hastings Funds Management, United Kingdom/Europe

Steve commenced at Hastings in May 2008 as a member of Hastings' executive management team, and is responsible for Hastings' operations in the United Kingdom and Europe. Prior to this position, Steve was Head of Public Private Partnerships (PPP), Westpac, which he established six years ago. Steve has had extensive experience on a large number of advisory, project, structured and leveraged finance transactions and had previously established Westpac's Project and Structured Debt Team. Recently, Steve has run Westpac's Debt Capital Markets Team. Steve has extensive experience in infrastructure, project finance and capital markets and has successfully led teams of executives and senior managers in the finance sector.  Steve has a degree in Economics from Sydney University and has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants since 1984.

 

PETER TAYLOR, Head of Hastings Funds Management (USA) Inc.

Peter joined Hastings in March 2000 and was the Responsible Executive for The Infrastructure Fund from July 2000 to June 2006 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Utilities Trust of Australia in January 2004, a continuing role which he now shares with Richard Hoskins. In August 2006, Peter relocated to New York to establish Hastings' North American business. Peter leads Hastings efforts in the US, with a focus on North America, Hastings' strategic relationships and partnerships to further Hastings managed funds' objectives in the areas of new investment opportunities, equity asset management and capital raising. In recent years Peter provided leadership on key outcomes for the Group, including the acquisition and merger of the United Kingdom water companies, Mid Kent Water and South East Water, the development of the Zachry relationship and the Southwest Generation acquisition. During Peter's time with Hastings, he has been a director of  Perth Airport, Queensland Airports Limited, NT Airports Limited, Interlink Roads, Port of Portland, Epic Energy, Global Renewables, Mid Kent Water and South East Water.  Prior to joining Hastings, Peter worked in the Structured Asset Finance division at Deutsche Bank and at a number of chartered accounting firms in Brisbane and Sydney.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from the Queensland University of Technology, majoring in business and taxation law and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

 

Efim Tkatchew, Head of Corporate Management

Efim commenced at Hastings as Head of Corporate Management in November 2008 and has responsibility for the review, management and leadership of corporate support functions including Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources and Operations. Prior to joining Hastings, Efim was Chief Operating Officer at Dearborn Capital Management in Chicago. Efim has 20 years experience in the financial services industry, and has previously held senior positions at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, State Street , Dresdner Bank in Australia, and internationally, with Credit Suisse.  Efim holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales and a Masters of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management.  He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
