Statewide Roads operates the M4 Motorway in New South Wales, Australia. The M4 is an established tollroad servicing Parramatta and the western suburbs of Sydney. Statewide's concession agreement with the New South Wales Government expires in 2010.

Performance highlights 2008

Statewide's total toll revenue for the year was $88.5 million, an increase of 4.4 percent on the previous year. EBITDA was $67.9 million, an increase of 3.2 percent over the prior year.

The increase in revenue was largely due to increased traffic volumes. Traffic volumes increased 3.6 percent on the previous year, with average daily traffic reaching 110,872 vehicles per day. Increased rental income and savings in personnel costs also contributed to a higher EBITDA.

Performance outlook

Statewide Road's traffic volumes will continue to be influenced by growth in the Sydney road network.

Over the last 12 months, phase 2 of the asphalt resheeting program to rehabilitate part of the road was completed. The completion of this program should reduce pavement costs in 2009.

For the coming year management will focus on the handover of the M4 Motorway to the Road Traffic Authority at the end of the concession in February 2010.
