Statewide Roads operates the M4 Motorway in New South Wales, Australia. The M4 is an established tollroad servicing Parramatta and the western suburbs of Sydney. Statewide's concession agreement with the New South Wales Government expires on 15 February 2010.

Performance highlights 2009

Statewide Roads generated a return of 12.79 percent for the year and 10.41 percent since inception.

Statewide's total toll revenue for the year was $106.2 million, an increase of 20.0 percent on the previous year. Traffic volumes increased 0.9 percent on the previous year, with average daily traffic reaching 111,871 vehicles per day. However, the increased revenue was largely due to a car toll increase in August 2008 rather than increased traffic. Maintenance costs were significantly below the prior year, when a major asphalt resheeting program was completed. The increased revenue and lower maintenance costs resulted in a significant uplift in EBITDA to $92.2 million, an increase of 35.8 percent on the prior year.

Performance outlook

For the coming year, management will be actively engaged in facilitating the handover of the M4 Motorway to the Roads and Traffic Authority at the end of the concession on 15 February 2010.
