Hastings Hancock International Timberland Fund

Profile

Overview

Hastings Hancock International Timberland Fund No. 1 (HHIT) is an unlisted unit trust established in 2001 to invest in unlisted timberland assets. HHIT's investments are located in Australia and New Zealand. HHIT provides a portfolio of timberland assets that deliver a moderate balance between long-term high yield cash flow and capital growth.

Strategy

The investments of HHIT will:

-      primarily focus on softwood rather than eucalyptus or other hardwood species;

-      primarily focus on log markets rather than woodchips and pulpwood;

-      focus on existing plantation timberland with an operating track record;

-      not be old growth or other natural forests; and

-      ensure that harvesting policies are such that the yield from its forests is environmentally sustainable.
