Dominic Leary

Director - Head of Private Equity

Dominic is the head of Hastings Private Equity with overall responsibility for managing the Hastings Private Equity Funds. 

Dominic joined Hastings Private Equity in 2001 and is presently a non-executive director on the boards of four investee companies.

Dominic has extensive experience in strategy and mergers and acquisitions across a wide range of industry sectors. 

Prior to joining Hastings Private Equity, Dominic was a founding member of Cargill's venture capital group and worked as a strategy adviser across a range of industry sectors at both Cargill and the LEK Partnership.  Dominic also worked in the corporate finance transaction execution teams for NM Rothschild & Sons and Salomon Smith Barney in London and New York.

Dominic received an MA in Mathematics and an MSc in Applied Statistics from the University of Oxford.

David Dawson

Director

David is a director of Hastings Private Equity. David is involved in the full range of private equity investment activities in Australia including fund raising and portfolio development as well as the sourcing, management and sale of investments.

David joined Hastings Private Equity in 2004 and is presently a non-executive director on the boards of four investee companies.

Prior to joining Hastings Private Equity, David established the Melbourne practice of ANZ Private Equity in 2001. In 2003, he was appointed co-head of ANZ Private Equity with joint responsibility for the business's operations in Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Brisbane and Perth.

David also spent six years with NM Rothschild and Sons corporate finance teams in London, Sydney, and Melbourne, advising on a wide range of mergers, acquisitions, disposals and equity raisings.

David received a BSc in Accounting and Statistics from Southampton University in the UK.

Matthew Baxter

Director

Matthew is a director of Hastings Private Equity. In addition to sourcing, assessing and managing investments for the Hastings Private Equity Funds, Matthew has primary responsibility for deal origination strategy and execution.

Matthew joined Hastings Private Equity in 2001 and is presently a non-executive director on the boards of two investee companies.

Prior to joining Hastings Private Equity, Matthew gained operating experience having spent three years as General Manager of a family-owned plant equipment hire business where he focussed on business development and executing an exit strategy. Matthew has also worked for several years with investment bank, UBS Warburg in Melbourne and Hong Kong.

Matthew has a Bachelor of Economics from La Trobe University and a Master of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School.

Alvin Teh

Director

Alvin is a director of Hastings Private Equity. In addition to sourcing, assessing and managing investment opportunities for the Hastings Private Equity Funds, Alvin has primary responsibility for overseeing financial reporting and investor communications.

Alvin joined Hastings Private Equity in 2001 and is presently a non-executive director on the boards of three investee companies.

Prior to joining Hastings Private Equity, Alvin spent several years in the Hastings Infrastructure and Debt business, as well as the Corporate Finance division at Deloitte, where he worked on several large and complex transactions including the privatisations of transport and utility companies.

Alvin graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree and a Masters of Business Administration (Executive) from the Australian Graduate School of Management. Alvin is also an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Steven Spiteri

Associate

Steven has spent three years at Hastings Private Equity assisting with new investment opportunities, bolt-on acquisitions, re-financings and execution of various value-enhancing initiatives for the funds' investee companies. 

Steven has been responsible for fund administration and reporting and for instituting the portfolio and scenario planning models for the funds.

Prior to joining Hastings Private Equity, Steven was an Executive at KPMG Corporate Finance where he spent approximately five years working with the Mergers and Acquisitions practice. During this tenure, Steven gained public and private market exposure to a range of industries and was actively involved in the delivery of valuation, mergers and acquisitions and capital structuring advice.

Steven holds a Bachelor of Business (Economics and Finance) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA).

Yorke Banyard

Analyst

Yorke has spent two years at Hastings Private Equity assessing and executing new investment opportunities for the Hastings Private Equity Funds. Yorke has also been involved in assisting with ongoing monitoring and oversight of portfolio companies, fund administration and fund reporting.

Prior to joining Hastings Private Equity, Yorke spent five years with ANZ Bank, where he held various roles in their Corporate Bank and Private Equity division.  During this time, Yorke gained exposure to various transactions across a number of industry sectors. Yorke was a member of the ANZ talent program and an inaugural member of the ANZ corporate junior board.

Yorke holds a Bachelor of Business (Banking and Finance) from Monash University and is currently completing a Masters of Applied Finance.
